It is one of the most traditional Greek dishes, more at home on the family dinner table or in a low-key local eatery than in a fancy tourist restaurant. It deserves to be better known though, as kokkinisto is delicious, and offers an intriguingly complex flavour, especially when cooked with cinnamon and cloves.
