Domatokeftedes – The Taste of the Greek Islands!
Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside—Domatokeftedes (Greek tomato fritters) are a true Mediterranean delight! These golden bites, packed with juicy tomatoes, fresh herbs, and crumbled feta, bring the flavors of the Aegean straight to your plate.
Originally from Santorini and other Cycladic islands, domatokeftedes are a perfect way to enjoy summer’s sweetest tomatoes.
Served with a refreshing tzatziki dip, they make an irresistible appetizer or a light meal alongside a Greek salad and some crusty bread.

Ingredients
1 kg tomatoes, finely chopped
2 medium onions, finely chopped
210 g feta cheese, crumbled
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tsp baking powder
15 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
200 g fine semolina
Salt & pepper, to taste
Olive oil
Oil for frying
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for the tomato fritters. Using your hands (wearing disposable gloves), mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into round balls, again using gloves if preferred.
Heat enough sunflower oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the fritters for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally, until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
Transfer the fritters onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Serve: Enjoy the domatokeftedes warm, paired with tzatziki and a Greek salad.
