PIROSKI – GREEK STYLE TURNOVER

They’re very popular pastry in Greece.
Fluffy fried dough filled with mince meat, sausage, potato or feta cheese
Ingredients:
For the dough
* 1 cup warm water
* 1 sachet dried yeast
* 1 tsp. teaspoon sugar
* 1/2 liter milk
* 1/2 cup olive oil or melted butter
* 2 eggs, lightly beaten
* 850 g. flour for all uses
* 400-500 g. ground beef
* 1 onion chopped
* 1/2 bunch parsley
*salt and pepper
* Oil for frying
Directions:
For the dough:
In a medium bowl mix, with a fork, in warm water, yeast, sugar and set aside for a few minutes until the mixture is frothy. Then add the milk, melted butter and beaten eggs.
In a large bowl sift the flour and add salt.
Make a hole in the center, pour in the yeast mixture and knead for 5-7 minutes, until we have a pliable dough, fluffy and elastic.
If you use mixer mix the ingredients with the hook.
Cover the bowl with a clean towel and leave for about 40 minutes until the dough doubles in size.
For Meat Filling:
Heat some oil and sauté the onion first. Add the mince, salt, pepper, parsley and stir.
Allow to cool.
Divide the dough into small balls. Roll out, with a rolling pin, each ball to a round pie.
Place in a tablespoon of minced meat and shape into ball, and press slightly with your palm.
In a large frying pan heat oil and fry on both sides, until golden brown.
Place on paper towels to cool and enjoy!
